Cars in concrete

During my visit to two capitals in the Baltic region – namely Helsinki and Tallinn – I stumbled upon some cars that screamed at me to be photographed. They really stood out from the dull grey surroundings!!

The first one is from Tallinn, close the the port. I spotted it after climbing the stairs of the old sailing arena from the 1980 olympics. Today is outside looks mostly like a ruin… The processing of the image was done only within Adobe Lightroom 5. I used the radial filter to desaturate everything but the buttom car in order to empasize the already colorless surroundings.

The second photo was shot in the streets of Helsinki – an old Fiat very nicely polished and in a lovely warm yellow color. On that photo I also desaturated the background – this time using the Lightroom adjustment brush. I also reduced contrast, highlights, shadows, clarity, and sharpness quite a lot to make the background less intrusive. Due the long focal length I got too much depth of field. Finally I added some vignetting.
